Principal Occupational Therapist, Mairead Cushen, joins the team.

Mairéad has been an Occupational Therapist since 2011 and has called Singapore her home for the past 10 years. Mairead has specialised as a paediatric OT for the majority of her career, but gained experience working with adults and in mental health settings when she first graduated. She has experience working in both government and private sectors working in school, home and community settings.

Mairéad places great importance on continued education and has completed an array of courses and qualifications which supports her to work with a broad range of clients, including:

  • PGCert in sensory integration, accredited by Sensory Integration Education and Ulster University

  • NDT/Bobath certificate course in the management and treatment of children with cerebral palsy and other neuromotor disorders, accredited by NDTA, 2017.

  • Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Level 1, 2017.

  • Assessment of Motor and Process Skills, AMPS UK & Ireland.

  • Therapeutic Listening, Listening with the Whole Body, 2014.

  • Multiple courses on topics such as sensory integration and praxis, play and autism by Kimberley Barthel, Theresa May-Benson and Karen Stagnitti.

Most recently she completed with distinction a postgraduate certification in Sensory Integration from Ulster University. Mairéad also became a Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) therapist in 2017 which equipped her with skills to support the physical development of children with cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Mairéad believes that children are empowered through play and sees how a strong development of foundation skills through play benefits a child as they transition through school. Mairéad loves to work with parents and experiences great joy and happiness as parents support their children to achieve the things they need to do and want to do in everyday life.
